I guess that's where we would have to see how serious or not the GOP as a party is about keeping the Senate (still very much in play) or attempting to win back the House (less likely).
If anyone remembers back in 1996 when it became apparent that Bob Dole was going to lose to Bill Clinton the GOP put much of their money at the end towards winnable elections. I.e. for Senate Maine, Montana, Iowa, Georgia (2 seats), AK, and NC all have competitive Senate races. Maine, Montana, and Alaska are all pretty much already decided for POTUS vote. It is possible for the party to back these candidates. Probably not likely (Dole was truly a "party guy" while Trump wasn't even a Republican until recently, and the party itself was much much different in 1996 than it is 24 years later), but food for thought for those who see Trump as someone who could weigh down a candidate (GA and NC come to mind, and PA/OH/MI for House races).

Trump won by 8% in Ohio. I don’t see him losing that much support. He had 51% of the vote. I just don’t see that as feasible for Biden.
Florida I guess is slightly in play but I’d say it’s 80-90% in favor of Trump winning. I also think Trump will win Wisconsin.
That’s not bad news for Biden as I think he can retake PA, MI, and NC and I agree Biden will win AZ. I’d rather be Biden right now. Biden could even win just getting PA, MI and AZ.

I also think Biden will win Pennsylvania and I believe he will win the state pretty easily. I have never been able to get a good read on voters in PA and which way they are leaning. One of the main industries in PA is the oil and gas industry and we elect a governor (Wolf) who was caught on tape saying he wanted to shut down every gas well in PA. Granted, his opponent was a schmutz but you get my point. Now we have Biden saying in a debate he wants to eliminate fracking and the next day when asked to clarify he says those workers just need to learn coding or something.
A lot of who will win in November may come down to who Biden picks for VP. IMO, Biden won’t last too long after the election and the VP will be running the show and if he picks Kamala Harris for example, a lot of blacks may jump ship or just stay home because they do not like her so we shall see

PA to me comes down to turnout in Philadelphia. It’s hard to predict if that will happen, or not. But I think that their engagement is the biggest factor here.

LOCKDOWNS returning. No more alcohol sales in Allegheny County. I expect this to last until a vaccine has been distributed. I hope they do something to help the bars and bartenders. I won’t talk about how I feel about the virus. But I do think it’s time to come to some sort of acceptance that we are going back into yellow or red within the next few weeks and it will last for significantly longer than the previous one did.

But I do think it’s time to come to some sort of acceptance that we are going back into yellow or red within the next few weeks and it will last for significantly longer than the previous one did. I think the 3 hot spots for virus transmission is bars, restaurants and churches. My oldest kid lives in Mount Gretna which is in Lebanon County, the last county in the state to go green because the county commissioners defied Wolf and left bars and restaurants open despite the ruling. Anyway, Mt. Gretna is a tourist destination in the summer and we took a walk to look at the old houses when we were down on Fathers day. There's a bar about a block from my kids home and the deck was absolutely jammed with virtually no one wearing masks. I blame both the bar and the patrons for sheer stupidity. Since we're old and in the high risk thing, we continue to play it safe and will do so until we're comfortable. Personally, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Europe and Asia busted the curve big time just by locking down and masking. The USA and Brazil have to have the dumbest leadership in the world at a national level. We have 4% of the world population yet, we have 27% of the deaths. It's time the rest of the country started following the states in the northeast and doing the right thing.

I still don’t think the virus is as big of a deal as it’s portrayed. Sure it’s deadly and dangerous but people should still be allowed some choice on how they want to live or make a living. Lockdowns to me are a perfect recipe for Trump re-emerging in the race. If people don’t want to go to the bar they’ll close on their own. That’s obviously not the case.
ESPECIALly considering it looks more political than ever. We are told that the tide had to be stemmed to save the healthcare system. UPMC and Highmark have both said they’ve not even been close to being overwhelmed. Why not listen to them.

I watched the news last night after you posted that Lockdown again and the CW said Allegheny County had 96 cases, no hospitalizations and no deaths but they decided to shut down bars. All 96 cases were young people. I understand young people can spread it to the older and more vulnerable but I have heard for a while that 1. The more people that got it would help due to the herd immunity and 2. Lockdowns were to help the overcrowding of hospitals which is not happening. Seems like our elected brain trusts are doing the opposite which is IMO, continuing to keep the virus going. I also agree with you Downriver that this was mismanaged from the start all the way up to Trump and down to the lowest governor. Governors in the North East mismanaged the nursing homes and killed thousands of people up to Trump trying to down play the virus when I think he should've been harder on locking down our country. Way too much in fighting at the top levels because unfortunately, this virus happened during a presidential election year. Faucci, Surgeon General etc. couldn't agree on if wearing a mask was good or not, Pelosi, Schumer, DiBlasio, Cuomo and the media were out downplaying the virus while Trump was trying to do things but granted IMO, too late. CDC screwed up the first batch of tests so we were far behind testing and China lied about the virus from the beginning and the WHO tried to cover for them. It was a failure on all levels
I also heard there were several protests in and around Pittsburgh this weekend but no elected official got the balls to say anything about those. They'll come out and say kids can't go to bars but won't say you might want to stay away from large protest groups. Not saying they should come out and ban protesting but how about just stating the facts that people might want to stay away from those large crowds? But I guess that would be racist and political suicide to say anything about a protest so they'll just hurt small businesses and close down bars

Downriver should stay home why go out if your going to whine about things LOL I was at that bar on Saturday If it had a big tent in the back with the words THE DECK in big letters Crazy and fun night Things are packed though
God is still delusional LOL To think a Trump supporter would allow him to rape his wife or daughter is insane
HS Lets see how things play out I went out for drinks the other night in Berks County It was 13 people 12 are voting for Trump Some guys were Black and two were actually Democrats married to police officers who totally dislike how things are playing out The woman said she can live with Trump but dislikes NO law and order and officers being attacked I said if they want to stop it they need to issue a warning and the next person who punches throws a brick simply shoot that person I would be all for that

I agree stones that I also talk to a lot of Trump Supporters and see a lot of Trump signs and flags in people’s yards but he just has so much against him I can’t see him getting past it this time. The liberal side of the media is just constantly spewing venom about Trump day after day and they are now (with Pelosi’s help) trying to bring up again the whole Trump loves Putin Russia hoax thing with this Taliban bounty gate Unverified report that the media is running with. Watch a press briefing one day and the questions that poor press secretary gets hammered with and they are like little kids that are just looking to get their sound bite to go viral versus asking honest questions to get facts. Schumer and Pelosi blocking everything so nothing gets done. I can go on but you see where I am going with this

Stones, there's a big difference between whining and stating facts. I certainly hope your immaturity doesn't end up killing someone you love. Here's how easy it is to kill someone because you just had to go to a bar.
Let's say you woke up with a terrible cough, a fever, and severe body aches. Immediately, you rush to the doctor and unfortunately, you’re diagnosed with COVID-19. For the last two weeks, you’ve been unaware that you contracted Corona and you’ve ignored "the rules." You've gotten together with some close friends for pizza, had a few people over, even visited a park and a beach. You figured, “I don’t feel sick. I have the right to keep living my normal life. No one can tell me what to do."
With your diagnosis, you spend the next few days at home on the couch, feeling pretty crappy; but then you’re well again because you’re young, healthy and strong. Lucky you. But your best friend caught it from you during a visit to your house, and because she didn't know she was contagious, she visited her 82-year-old grandfather, who uses oxygen tanks daily to help him breathe because he has COPD and heart failure. Now, he’s dead.
Your co-worker, who has asthma, caught it too, during your little bar get-together. Now, he’s in the ICU, and he's spread it to a few others in his family, too--but they won't know that for another couple of weeks yet.
The cashier at the restaurant where you picked up a pizza carried the virus home to his wife, who has MS, which makes her immunosuppressed. She’s not as lucky as you, so she’s admitted to the hospital because she’s having trouble breathing. She may need to be placed in a medically-induced coma and intubated; she may not get to say goodbye to her loved ones. She may die surrounded by machines, with no family at her bedside.
All because you couldn't stand the inconvenience of a mask; or staying home; or changing your familiar routines for just a little while. Because you have the right, above all others rights, to continue living your normal life and no one, I mean no one, has the right to tell you what to do.
#SocialDistancing = It’s not about YOU! #WearAMask = It's not about YOU! #StayHome = It's not about YOU! #GetTested = It's not about YOU! #MaskItOrCasket = It's not about YOU!

I know me and bfgrad have talked about it before but it is amazing to me how many people I see out and about not wearing masks. And it seems to me to be more older people than younger people not wearing them in my neck of the woods. Especially now where in this country it seems that most of these governors and/or mayors are just looking for an excuse to lock everything down again. People need to realize if states start shutting down again, this country is in BIG TROUBLE! The AOCs of the world may think so but the federal government just does not have all this money to continue to hand out. I know it has been put on the back burner in Pennsylvania but our unemployment system is still backlogged and now all these people who just got off unemployment in Allegheny County who work in bars will be going back on. As BT said earlier, these people need help. If the county wants to shut them down then they should have to do something for them. These people are going to have to apply again, probably wait another month or two then lose the first week because PA calls that the "waiting week". Unemployment still owes me my first 2 months of unemployment money. Do you think I could've gotten a hold of anybody. Phone is always a busy signal, emails never returned and contact your state reps and their canned answer is "we are working on the issue". I can't wait until November to cast my vote against Conor Lamb!!

There's a new dashboard up at PA DoH, pretty interesting stuff.
hs, I noticed more young people not wearing masks in the businesses that aren't strictly enforcing customer mask-wearing. I wear one of consideration for others more than myself.
As for Rep Lamb, he's too conservative for my taste, but being a USMC vet (JAG), he is super-committed to helping vets. His staff can't really help with resolving the state UC issues, but I had a recent dealing with them to find out the status of my late mom's final 2019 tax return. The staffer who helped me was excellent. You might want to reconsider your vote because Lamb probably aligns more closely than you think with your view of govt.
Not sure who your state rep (Kail? Barlotta?) is, but he/she is who can help dealing with state UC problems. I'd guess Vogel is your senator. His staff could help as well.

Downriver Very good post Common sense type of post I do wear a mask but I also went out almost everyday Nothing for 3.5 months I will not visit with older family members I cant control what someone else does I would like to see actual virus numbers The death number is misleading as it contains flu deaths and who knows what else Overall I do not think this virus is as deadly as portrayed IMO I could be wrong
HS Yes I agree Why would Democrats block Police reform in the Senate I mean at least debate it and see how things go The American people are to stupid to ask why Dems/R agree on 75% to start LOL

Agree stones. We've been very fortunate here in Central PA as we haven't had any huge outbreaks. Where I'm at in Cumberland County, we have some of the lowest numbers in the state and most of the deaths came from a couple of nursing homes that got hammered early. The one positive about all of this is traffic. I had an appointment in Harrisburg yesterday afternoon and didn't get out until 4:30. Usually, at that time, the 5 mile ride back across the river takes 30 minutes because of the bumper to bumper traffic from the businesses closing for the day. Yesterday, it took 10 minutes because everyone is working from home. LOL
