I don't understand a restaurant not being able to serve a beer or glass of wine with a meal. You don't go to a restaurant to drink and you don't go to a bar to eat. Make the rules apply to the bars..have them clean up their act and not punish everyone for the sins of a few...this isn't the Marines.

Just heard on the radio that a mask is now mandatory in Pennsylvania in all public places. Was gonna watch the news tonight because I did not hear how this is going to be enforced. Will the store not allow you in? Will you get fined? Will you get hauled off to jail? Was just out and about today in Beaver County and even though I had my mask on, I did not see too many others with theirs on

Wearing a mask is no worse than wearing a hat or a watch. It sure beats wearing a ventilator for 2 weeks sucking for air.

Allegheny County has mandated casinos, restaurants and bars to close at midnight tonight for next week. Take out still an option.

Even though I am against the government handing out money, I am in agreement with baldwintrack. Something needs to be done now to help these restaurant owners and workers. Our elected officials have no problems shutting things down but when people need help they are nowhere to be found. Where is Congress going to be in a few days? They'll be off for 3 weeks come back for a few days then be off again! They can talk another stimulus package but that is all it is - Talk. Think about all these bars and restaurants in PA, NY and NJ that were told they were going to be able to open up. They went out and I'm sure stocked up on food and booze and now are told to shut back in again or not open up at all like in NJ.

It's a sad state of affairs when Congress can write in millions into a stimulus bill for a library or want to bail out a state that mismanaged billions of dollars for years, but a small time restaurant owner, bar owner etc. has to jump through hoops and apply for loans that alot of times the banks won't even give them

There was I forget, how many billions that went upspent of the paycheck protection act money, too.
Instead of the awkward process of having to apply through local banks, the money should have been direct deposited to the approved business. Ok, there might have been some cheating, but that could be addressed down the road.

An unintended issue with PPP was that employees who were furloughed filed for unemployment the same time their employers filed for PPP and when the money finally came in employers didn’t want to deny the unemployment claims because they would have disenfranchised employees who were set to make more on unemployment.

Make the rules apply to the bars..have them clean up their act and not punish everyone for the sins of a few...this isn't the Marines. Agreed. From my obvservtions at least here in OH most if not all sit down restaurants have been following the social distancing guidelines including maximum occupancy of 50%, and most have not had to even enforce that with how few people are dining out this summer. It is the bars, particularly dive bars in places where the county health departments are not dwelling on, that customers and bar owners are "ruining it for everyone." Kind of like my South Hills area bar in another thread...the Allegheny County Health Department is going to focus first on the places where there are many bars such as the South Side or Oakland...they will respond I'm sure to complints about a bar in Bethel Park or Pleasant Hills but in the scheme of things are never going to waste a Saturday night doing a surprise inspection there. I personally have not dined out nor do I intend to any time again probably this year, but so long as guidelines are being followed I have no problem with people doing so.

This all goes back to what bfgrad started earlier that Wolf down to the lowest elected official are not enforcing the rules they are enacting. They would rather shut everything down and punish everyone versus being proactive and responding to complaints and doing inspection and punishing the businesses doing it wrong. And before anyone says the state is short handed, how about hiring some people that are on unemployment! Wolf said unemployment was backlogged and he would be hiring- I never saw an ad. He said the state would be hiring contact tracers- never saw an ad. I guess all the jobs went to all the Congress’s cousins and brothers!
