California is about to get hit with their first tropical storm since 1939. A category 4 Hurricane is heaved straight for the Southern Coast. It is projected they will get hit with approximately 10" of rain, about their annual rain fall. Hurricane Hilary is expected to make landfall this Sunday around 6:00 p.m. It will also affect parts of Nevada and Arizona. Flash flooding and mudslides are expected as well.

But wouldnt that rain be good for many communities out there? They have a water shortage in many areas. Hopefully some rolls downhill in to the Great Salt Lake in Utah, things are better there but it is still low.

All the big reservoirs are surrounded by mountains, which means much of that rain will run down hill and raise the water levels of each one which is a good thing. Problem is there's too much rain in too short a time period and that will cause flooding, mudslides etc. Leets hope a lot of rain soaks into the ground and soaks the forests, lessening the chance of forest fires.

Looks like Tallahassee to Tampa is in the direct path. As warm as the water is, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a Category 2 by the time it makes landfall.

Geez, Hurricane Idalia did some very serious damage across Florida and even Georgia. Lots of flooding and wind damage in both states.

I heard the news mention that T4L. Here is another great source of hurricane and weather information. They're in Tampa and their meteorologists do a great job of giving details. www.wfla.com/news/
